Ric Royer writes stories mordant and morbid, stages plays of absurd wonder, and sings songs of hope and disaster. A song and dance man of the avant-vaude, Royer is the founder and artistic director of Psychic Readings Co, a performance collective that has entertained, frightened and confused audiences with their interdisciplinary hysterics since 1999. He also runs Model City Books.
Ric studied theatre and writing at University of Buffalo, and Towson University, and Dartington College of Art and Brown University, before finally retiring from going to school in 2013.
He currently lives in the Catskills, where he can often be found collaborating with his long-time music partner G Lucas Crane. They have been involved in several music/performance projects, including The Coincidental Hour and can currently be heard messing around on their radio show, I Have Seen Niagara. Their LP, Dark Cabinet, was released by Baltimore’s EHSE Records in 2008.
Ric’s published works of literature include Niagara Falls, NY (Pig Roast Publishing, 2023), Gonzales (Model City Books, 2020), She Saw Ghosts He Saw Bodies (Narrow House, 2010), The Weather Not The Weather (Outside Voices, 2008), Hystery of Heat (Publishing Genius, 2007), There Were One and It Was Two (Narrow House, 2007) and Anthesteria (Bark Art Press, 2001).
Just a nothingarian living that scary dream.
